Axelera AI in Europe is seeking a Senior AI Application Engineer to own LLM/VLM support on Metis and Europa AIPUs, from studying new models to shipping them in the Voyager SDK.

The role blends software engineering with ML inference, requiring Python, PyTorch, and hands-on use of AI coding agents. You will prototype, test, and document features, collaborate across teams, and help shape GenAI capabilities for edge devices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering with ML experience.
• Deep understanding of transformer inference and KV caching.
• Proficient in Python and PyTorch; ships production software.
• Experience with AI coding agents and real codebases.
• Ability to turn research into practical design.

Responsibilities

• Study new LLM/VLM architectures and profile on Metis/Europa.
• Turn results into Voyager SDK features with stable APIs.
• Own PyTorch reference with quantization and contracts.
• Integrate LLM/VLM serving into the Voyager SDK pipeline.
• Measure accuracy against reference and explain gaps.
• Extend the model enablement platform with hardware tests.
• Recommend GenAI needs for Voyager SDK and edge devices.
