Data analysis and modelling are important skills for this role. You should be able to think conceptually and critically. You should have strong logical reasoning abilities. You should be capable of learning enough about new domains to reason and communicate about them. You should be able to perform root-cause analysis.You should be aware of and practiced in different working methods. Finally, you should be comfortable working remotely and willing to work on-site with clients when required.

Technical Skills

The candidate will have as much as possible of the below, but please apply if you’re unsure - we don’t bite!

You will:

  • have a solid understanding of the semantic fundamentals; triples, URIs, RDF, and serialisation formats like turtle and N3;
  • write all SPARQL query and update forms;
  • be aware of specialist topics such as RDFS, named graphs, federated queries, R2RML, SHACL, SKOS, OWL, ontologies and inferencing;
  • understand relational databases and schemas;
  • write SQL queries and stored procedures;
  • understand data and how it can be transported, stored and encrypted, including serialisation formats like JSON and CSV;
  • understand the importance of source control and know how to use git;
  • have experience working with command line tools.
  • have commercial experience building knowledge graphs;
  • have experience with one or more triple stores (e.g. Fuseki, Neptune, Stardog);
  • have experience with one or more vendor platforms (e.g. Anzo, metaphactory);
  • have experience working in the software development lifecycle;
  • be able to write scripts;
  • know at least one programming language;
  • have experience using code libraries such as Jena, RDF4J and RDFLib.
