Research Scientist

Location: Grimstad

We are seeking a Research Scientist to join our Electrodes & Materials team. In this role, you will play a key role in advancing Li-ion battery technology by identifying limitations in electrode performance, designing experiments to investigate these challenges, and developing strategies to overcome them. You will guide the electrode development process, provide insights on design and production improvements, and support research engineers and technicians in electrode analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct battery cell analysis, including electrode coating, cell assembly, and laboratory-scale testing.
  • Independently learn and implement new equipment and testing protocols.
  • Contribute to the development and standardization of analysis methods.
  • Collaborate closely with the electrode production team, ensuring continuous feedback on electrode quality.
  • Lead and participate in safety reviews within the Materials Research Center.
Skills & Requirements

Education & Experience

  • PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong foundation in battery theory and advanced knowledge of characterization tools for battery materials and electrodes.
  • Hands-on experience in electrode production (small or large scale) and cell testing (coin to pouch cell level).
  • Proficiency in MS Office and experience with Python or similar programming languages.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
