Job summary

University of Oslo invites applications for a 6-month Research Fellow position focused on gene editing and cell-based therapy for inherited bleeding disorders. The role supports in vivo pre-clinical work and data analysis within an ongoing project affiliated with UiO and Oslo University Hospital.

You will contribute to experimental design, execution, and interpretation, using CRISPR-based editing, iPSC, and hepatic organoid systems.

Qualifications

• MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (e.g. medicine, molecular biology, cell biology, biotechnology or similar).
• Demonstrated ability to design, plan and execute in vitro and in vivo experiments.
• Formal accreditation for work with animal models (e.g. FELASA C or equivalent) AND experience with mouse surgery and xenotransplant.
• Experience with stem cell work and stem cell-derived 3D hepatic organoid differentiation.
• Proficiency in English, both written and oral.

Research Fellow – gene editing and cell-based therapy

We invite applications for a 6‑month position in our project on cell-based therapy for inherited bleeding disorders.

The position is part of an ongoing project funded by the Norwegian Research Council and affiliated with the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Division of Cancer Medicine, University of Oslo, with daily work based at Oslo University Hospital, Rikshospitalet.

The research group has long-standing expertise in basic, translational and clinical research on blood coagulation factors and their role in disease.

More about the position

The project focuses on inherited factor VII (FVII) deficiency, a rare but serious bleeding disorder caused by mutations in the F7 gene, leading to markedly reduced FVII activity, and applies advanced technologies such as CRISPR‑based gene editing, induced pluripotent stem cells and liver organoids to rescue the FVII expression in patient‑derived cells.

The position will support continued experimental work and data analysis within in vivo pre‑clinical studies, which form an important foundation for future cell‑based therapies in patients with FVII deficiency.

The research fellow is expected to contribute actively to experimental design, execution and troubleshooting, as well as to the interpretation and reporting of results.

Salary in position as researcher, position code 1108 in salary range NOK 565000 to 595 000 depending on competence and experience. From the salary, 2 percent is deducted in statutory contributions to the State Pension Fund
