Job summary

CBSbutler is seeking an experienced Java Developer to join a remote development team on a Home Office project, building secure, scalable Java applications and services.

You’ll work across Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs and microservices, contributing to the full development lifecycle from design and development through testing, deployment and ongoing optimisation. Strong collaboration with architects and product teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java / Java SE / Java EE.
• Solid Spring Framework experience, particularly Spring Boot.
• Experience developing REST APIs and microservices.
• Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with Git.
• Understanding of OOP principles and design patterns.
• Experience with Maven or Gradle.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deploy Java applications and services.
• Build and enhance Spring Boot / Spring MVC / Spring Data solutions.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Work with relational databases and SQL.
• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve technical issues.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high coding standards.
• Optimise application performance, scalability and reliability.
• Collaborate with architects, product teams and fellow developers.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across development processes and tooling.
