Job summary

The Department of Physics at the University of Oslo invites applications for a three-year Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in Quantum Machine Learning for Multimode Mechanics (QM3L / QuantERA 2025). The starting date is no later than January 1, 2027, with supervisors Prof. Francesco Massel and Prof.

Morten Hjorth-Jensen. Candidates should have a PhD in physics, applied mathematics, or related areas, strong programming skills, and a proven ability to communicate in English.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in physics, applied mathematics, computer science, or closely related area.
• Strong background in at least two of: quantum optics/information/open quantum systems; quantum control/optimal control; machine learning; numerical simulation of quantum dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent and collaborative research in quantum machine learning for multimode mechanics.
• Publish results in high-impact journals and present at international conferences.
• Mentor students and contribute to an inclusive research environment.
