Job summary

Omega AS in Norway seeks a QHSE Engineer for the Forus location to advise on QHSE issues daily and support workforce compliance with internal and external requirements.

You will coordinate the rig-specific annual QHSE plan, collaborate with safety delegates and management, and assist with CMS updates and incident investigations as part of a broader Omega 365 team environment.

Qualifications

  • University degree or similar professional qualification within HSE; relevant industry experience may compensate.
  • Minimum 2 years experience of HSE related work, preferably within oil and gas.

Assignment Description

The QHSE Engineer’s main tasks and responsibilities are:

Assist and advise the organisation on QHSE related issues on a daily basis, and support the workforce in their effort to comply with the external and internal requirements.

Coordinate the establishment of the rig specific annual QHSE and Occupational Health activity plan, based on the Corporate QHSE Program and client/ local requirements.

Work in close cooperation with the workforce/ safety delegates and the offshore/ onshore management.

Assist the Rig Manager in development and maintenance of the AoC/ Safety Case documentation for the offshore units.

Monitor the unit’s compliance with relevant and applicable rules and regulations. Ensure control with non-conformances and associated actions.

Assist with updating, review, and implementation of CMS documents.

Continuously follow-up/manage/coordinate the offshore unit’s reporting, and address QHSE performance issues. Verify that incident classification is done correctly, and that proper actions are identified and followed up by the responsible persons.

Analyse monthly QHSE statistics (incidents, accidents, non-conformities, etc.) including trends. Call attention to improvement areas, and initiate actions to mitigate/ reduce risk.

Participate and lead audits, verifications, incident investigations and risk assessments internally and externally as relevant.

Actively follow up on his/ her own competence status in accordance with position and together with supervisor plan for training activities required to close any competence gaps.

Shall ensure correct use of the safe work planning and execution process for all activities he/she is involved in.

Familiarize with relevant CMS documents, follow requirements therein and actively seek to stay updated with new versions of relevant documents.

Qualifications

University degree or similar professional qualification within HSE – relevant industry experience may compensate for lack of formal qualification.

Minimum 2 years experience of HSE related work, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
