Descripción de la vacante

The University of Oslo invites applications for a PhD Research Fellow to develop multimodal microscopy platforms for studying viral infection in organoids. Based in the Department of Physics at Blindern, Oslo, the position runs for three years with a starting date no later than 1 April 2027.

The project combines photonic chip-based super-resolution microscopy with optical diffraction tomography and quantitative phase microscopy, paired with AI-assisted image analysis.

Formación

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in physics or engineering or related field in biomedical engineering and biophysics.
  • Hands-on experience with experimental optical instrumentation and microscopy.
  • Strong background in image analysis using Python or MATLAB.
  • Interest in working in a multidisciplinary research group.

Responsabilidades

  • Develop and adapt a multi-modal optical microscopy platform focusing on photonic chip-based super-resolution and optical diffraction tomography/quantitative phase microscopy.
  • Perform correlative fluorescence microscopy with 3D quantitative phase tomography for virtual specificity.
  • Generate correlated datasets to analyze microenvironmental changes during HIV‑1 and VEEV infection in organoid models.
  • Apply advanced image analysis including AI-assisted segmentation, classification and correlation.
  • Collaborate with other doctoral candidates and provide support in imaging, analysis, and training.
