Job summary

NTNU Norwegian University of Science and Technology seeks a PhD Candidate in Exercise and Brain Health for the MolEx studies. The project explores molecular effects of exercise on the brain and Alzheimer’s disease protection, using multi-omics data and clinical studies.

The position is fixed-term for 3 years, with supervision by leading NTNU researchers; the applicant will contribute to three randomized studies and pursue a doctoral thesis under guidance from CERG and the Department of

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required with strong academic record (equivalent to B or better).
• Documented clinical/laboratory research experience is required.
• Knowledge of bioinformatics and omics data is desirable; basic R/Python skills preferred.
• Excellent written and oral English skills are essential.
• Ability to communicate in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Take active role in MolEx studies across populations.
• Develop and lead sub-projects within three studies for doctoral thesis.
• Assist in data collection: exercise testing, blood sampling, cognitive testing.
• Analyze large-scale molecular data with bioinformatics collaborators.
• Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
• Write and defend a doctoral thesis; complete PhD programme at NTNU.
• Meet requirements for admission to NTNU Medical Faculty PhD programme.
