Job summary

NTNU invites applications for a PhD candidate position in the Cardiac Exercise Research Group (CERG) within the Department of Circulation and Medical Imaging. The doctoral project explores how exercise-induced circulating molecules affect brain health and Alzheimer’s disease, with three randomized clinical studies across age groups.

You will develop own sub-projects, work with omics data, and collaborate across international teams.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (equivalent to 120 ECTS) in exercise physiology, human physiology, molecular biology, biomedicine, neuroscience, medicine, medical technology, or related field.
  • Strong academic background with GPA equivalent to B or better per NTNU grading scale.
  • Documented experience with clinical and/or laboratory research.
  • Excellent written and oral English skills.

Responsibilities

  • Take active role in MolEx studies across cohorts.
  • Develop and lead sub-projects within three studies for your doctoral thesis.
  • Participate in data collection including exercise testing and cognitive assessments.
  • Analyze large-scale molecular data with bioinformatics collaborators.
  • Publish in peer‑reviewed journals and present at conferences.
  • Write and defend your doctoral thesis and complete the PhD programme.
