Job summary

NTNU invites applications for a PhD Candidate position in Societal readiness for AI-supported life cycle assessment in the architecture, engineering, and construction sectors. The PhD project is 3 years, located at the Energy and Environment Group, Department of Architecture and Technology, Trondheim.

You will pursue doctoral studies while carrying out research on AI-assisted LCA, data gathering, model construction, and decisions support, contributing to international collaboration with SINTEF

Qualifications

• Admission to the Doctoral program in Architecture is required
• Master’s degree in Architecture, Industrial Ecology, Science and Technology studies, Computer Science, or equivalent with a major independent project (≥30 ECTS)
• Master students may apply but degree must be obtained before start date (no later than 2026-11-01)
• Strong academic background with average grade equal to B or better on NTNU scale
• Excellent written and oral English language skills
• Strong analytical skills demonstrated through courses or theses
• Motivation to work on the topic

Responsibilities

• Carry out high-quality research on AI-assisted LCA in light of governance challenges
• Publish in peer-reviewed journals and disseminate knowledge
• Participate in Energy and Environment research group activities
• Engage in international activities (conferences, research stays)
• Complete coursework totaling at least 30 ECTS
• Possible career-enhancing work aligned with department needs
