Job summary

Coralville Recreation Center is seeking a part-time Recreation Associate to ensure quality customer service for visitors and to supervise programs and activities within the center.

The role includes front desk coverage, event setup/teardown, daily administrative tasks, and handling deposits. Candidates must be 18+, have CPR/First Aid certification, and be able to work afternoons/evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Person must be reliable, organized, and have the ability to effectively communicate with adults and children.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• One year part-time experience in recreation or current enrollment in recreation curriculum or related field.
• Working knowledge of various sports and games.
• Ability and desire to work with the public.
• Certification in First Aid and CPR.
• Attendance in orientation and training as presented by the department.
• Completion of Criminal Records and Child Abuse Background Record Check upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Take hourly building attendance in the different usage areas.
• Assist with facility and equipment set up and tear down.
• Evaluate group cleanups and approve return of deposits if satisfactory.
• Duties include but are not limited to answering phones, registering patrons for activities/programs, meeting rooms, park shelters and assist customers.
• Cover front desk for short periods as assigned.
• As facility attendance allows, carry out administrative projects such as copying, filing, sorting, and other paperwork as assigned.
• Respond to routine inquiries or complaints from the public and refer to appropriate staff.
