On behalf of a well-established public hospital in Eastern Norway, we are seeking a ophthalmologist for a permanent position within a specialist ophthalmology department.

The hospital is located in a well-connected urban area in Eastern Norway, within easy reach of Oslo and surrounded by opportunities for outdoor activities throughout the year. The area offers an attractive combination of city life, nature and family-friendly communities, with good transport connections to both the capital and the rest of the region.

About the position

You will become part of an experienced specialist environment providing assessment, treatment and follow-up of patients with a broad range of ophthalmic conditions.

Your responsibilities will be adapted to your qualifications, experience and professional interests and may include:

  • Diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic conditions
  • Ophthalmic procedures and surgery according to your qualifications and experience
  • Preoperative assessment and postoperative follow-up
  • Collaboration with other medical specialties and healthcare professionals
  • Participation in multidisciplinary meetings and quality-improvement initiatives
  • Participation in the on-call rota according to your level of competence
  • Supervision and training of colleagues and medical students where relevant

The position offers the opportunity to work within the Norwegian public healthcare system, where multidisciplinary collaboration, professional autonomy and high-quality patient care are central to everyday clinical practice.

Who are we looking for?

  • Norwegian language skills at minimum B2 level

You do not need to have these in place when you apply. Dignus Medical will guide you through the authorisation and specialist approval process and provide the language training needed before you start working in Norway.

What can you expect?

  • A permanent position within the Norwegian public healthcare system
  • A varied clinical role adapted to your experience and professional interests
  • An experienced and supportive specialist environment
  • Close multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Opportunities for professional development and continuing education
  • A good balance between professional opportunities and life outside work

Dignus Medical has extensive experience recruiting medical specialists from across Europe to Norway and will support you throughout the entire process.

We assist with:

  • Assessment of your qualifications and documentation
  • Norwegian medical authorisation
  • Norwegian specialist approval
  • Free Norwegian language training
  • Practical matters related to relocation
  • Preparation for your new workplace and life in Norway
  • Personal follow-up before, during and after your relocation

For Swedish and Danish specialists, the transition to working and living in Norway can be particularly straightforward due to the similarities between the Scandinavian healthcare systems, languages and working cultures.
