Job summary

The Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) seeks a Sustainment Expert to join the OPFOR team, the focal point for developing realistic adversarial effects to challenge and prepare NATO forces for modern warfare.

The role requires expertise in sustainment planning within a joint environment, knowledge of adversaries' sustainment capabilities (especially Russia), and experience with exercise planning, red team work, and leadership of a sustainment team.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of sustainment planning experience in a joint environment.
• Strong knowledge of adversaries' sustainment capabilities (notably Russian).
• University degree in logistics planning, economics, or acquisition fields or related discipline.
• Russian - SLP 2222 (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) at Intermediate level.
• Valid security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide subject-matter advice on sustainment in joint operations during scenario/product development for JWC-directed exercises and trainings.
• Lead a team of sustainment experts for JWC-directed exercise events under the Chief OPFOR guidance.
• Provide internal training to the OPFOR Branch and JWC staff; attend workshops to keep knowledge current.
• Establish liaison with other NATO subject-matter experts and relevant counterparties.

• Knowledge of and functional experience in exercise planning or exercise production.
• Previous work in a red team or opposing forces team
• University degree in logistics planning, economics, or acquisition fields, or relateddiscipline.
• Russian- SLP 2222 - (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) Intermediate
• Valid security clearance
• Providing subject-matter advice in all aspects of sustainment in joint operations during the creation of setting or scenario products for JWC-directed exercises, wargames, or other collective trainings;
• Providing subject-matter advice in all aspects of sustainment in adversaries' joint operations to the respective Chief OPFOR for an exercise, wargame, or other collective training event;
• Drafting detailed schemes of sustainment in joint operations based on doctrine of adversaries (in particular Russia) and on Deterrence and Defence of the Euro-AtlanticArea (DDA) assumptions;
• Leading a team of sustainment experts during JWC-directed exercise events according to the guidance of the respective Chief OPFOR;
• Providing internal training to the OPFOR Branch and JWC in general;
• Attending internal and external workshops or other individual training events related to sustainment in order to keep the knowledge up to date;
• Establishing a liaison network with other relevant subject-matter experts (in particular in NATO Command Structure).

The successful applicant will be offered a three-year definite duration employment contract. Serving staff will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations.
