Job summary

DNV seeks an Ocean Economy Researcher to advance forecasts and analyses of ocean value chains. The role combines economics with knowledge of aquaculture, offshore energy, shipping, and maritime activities, applying systems thinking and quantitative methods to generate insights for industry and policy partners.

You will contribute to forecasting efforts within the Ocean Systems Programme, within GRD, with opportunities to shape research directions and practical innovations for the ocean economy.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in industrial economics, natural resource economics, or environmental economics.
• 2–5 years of relevant industry or research experience.
• Knowledge of aquaculture, offshore energy, shipping, or maritime activities.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on existing and emerging ocean value chains, including drivers of demand for ocean goods and services, seafood, aquaculture, offshore technologies, marine and maritime economics, policy developments, and pathways towards nature-positive ocean industries.
• Contribute to the continued development of forecasts and simulation models exploring the future of the ocean economy.
• Identify and develop new research opportunities and contribute to the formulation of future research projects.
• Process, analyse, and visualise data to support research activities and model development.
• Document findings and contribute to DNV reports, position papers, and scientific publications.
• Present insights and recommendations to DNV business areas, customers, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate across disciplines to translate research into practical solutions and business opportunities.
