Job summary

Twoja Norwegia in Ålesund is seeking an enterprising kitchen assistant/cook to cover parental leave in a kindergarten with 105 children and about 25 staff. The role offers great flexibility to plan the day within opening hours, while ensuring meals and baking are prepared from scratch and kids enjoy meals.

You will work with the daily manager to stay within budget and develop economical meal solutions. Start date in December or by 4 January, with a project position running until 02.07.2027 and

Job description

Are you passionate about cooking, baking and want to contribute to children's joy of food? Our kitchen assistant is going on parental leave, therefore we are looking for an enterprising, structured and efficient kitchen assistant/cook for our kindergarten with 105 children and approx. 25 employees.

Desired start date is in December, or at the latest 4 January.

This is a project position of approx. 110 hours per month, distributed through the week as needed, with the possibility of extension.

We are looking for an independent and structured person who enjoys taking responsibility. You will have great flexibility and freedom to plan your working day within the kindergarten's opening hours, while ensuring good mealtime experiences for the children at set times.

About the job

• Responsible for making lunch and hot meals from scratch, as well as baking and preparing afternoon meals/breakfast

• Option to use Norlandia's ready weekly menus or your own recipes.

• The children should have the opportunity to participate in cooking, and the position should help to relieve the staff and free up time that benefits the children.

• Together with the daily manager you will be responsible for staying within the budget and contributing to good, economical solutions.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a passion for cooking and healthy food.

• Is enterprising, engaged and efficient.

• Has knowledge of hygiene and allergy management.

• Has experience from a kitchen or a similar position (desirable, but not a requirement).

• Enjoys finding good solutions and organizing work in a small kitchen.

• Has the ability to include children in cooking in a safe and inspiring way.
