Job summary

GE Vernova's Hydro team in Norway is seeking a Service Engineer to support hydro power generator service projects in Norway, based at Oslo Skøyen offices or at the Lier workshop, with flexible location.

You will work across the full lifecycle from technical assessment and proposal support to execution, commissioning, and warranty follow-up, turning engineering assessments into practical, effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering is required.
• Experience in hydro power, rotating equipment, marine, oil and gas, or heavy industrial environments is preferred.
• Experience reading technical drawings and CAD tools such as AutoCAD and NX is desirable.
• Strong communication and coordination skills for a customer-facing role.

Responsibilities

• Act as the main engineering contact for customers during project execution.
• Review customer requirements and site conditions to define the most suitable technical solution.
• Support preparation of technical proposals for spare parts, inspections, maintenance activities, rehabilitation work, and minor repairs.
• Carry out site visits, inspections, and technical assessments of existing generator equipment.
• Define repair and maintenance scope based on equipment condition and project requirements.
• Support project execution by coordinating technical activities with internal teams, workshop resources, and external partners.
• Provide engineering support during manufacturing, installation, commissioning, testing, and other critical project phases.
• Ensure delivery in line with safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
• Manage technical changes, non-conformities, and engineering issues during project execution.
• Identify opportunities for additional service, maintenance, and repair work based on site findings and customer needs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned across projects.
