Description du poste

At Oda, we develop affordable grocery services to make the logistics of everyday life surprisingly easy. We started by building Norway's leading online grocery store, and now, together with Mathem in Sweden, we're on our way to becoming the world's most effective grocery system, delivering to thousands of Scandinavian doorsteps every week.

Now, we're looking for a Mobile Engineer to join our team.

When we sat down to write this job ad, we asked ourselves a simple question: What would make someone a great fit for our team?

And we kept coming back to the same answer: Someone who saw a problem, built something to help people without being asked, and actually managed to get people to use it.

To us, that's what great engineering is about. Understanding people's problems, figuring out what really matters, and turning that into something simple and useful.

We're not particularly interested in how many years you've been doing this. We care much more about what you've built, why you built it, and what happened when people started using it.

What you'll be doing

You'll be working on the mobile shopping experience that thousands of people rely on every week. From finding something for dinner to getting groceries into their cart and checking out, you'll help make those everyday moments a little easier.

Here's what that looks like in practice:

  • Build and improve our shopping experience. You'll work on everything from browsing and search to product pages, cart, and checkout. These are the core experiences our customers interact with every day.

  • Turn ideas into real products. Work closely with designers, product managers, and fellow engineers to build features, release them, see how they perform, and figure out what to improve next.

  • Go beyond the mobile app. We don't believe engineers should be limited to one part of the stack. You'll have opportunities to understand and contribute to the APIs and backend services that power our apps.

  • Make the little things better. Sometimes the most valuable improvement isn't a big new feature. It's a faster checkout, a smoother interaction, or one less frustrating step for someone ordering groceries after a long day.

What we're looking for

Our main technical requirement is that you have experience building native mobile apps, either iOS with Swift or Android with Kotlin. You don't need to know both.

Beyond that, we think you'll be a great fit if:

  • You're naturally curious and enjoy figuring things out, even when the solution isn't obvious.

  • You take initiative. When you see something that could be better, your first instinct is to do something about it.

  • You enjoy working with people from different disciplines and are happy to challenge ideas, including your own.

  • You're excited about how technology is changing the way we build software. We use AI tools in our development process and encourage experimenting with new ways of working.

And if you've ever built something on your own initiative, whether at work or in your spare time, we'd genuinely love to hear about it!

What's it like to work at Oda?

Even though we reach thousands of customers every week, we still think of ourselves as a tiny company.

Most of our teams are just 5–6 people, and that's including the designer and product manager! This means fewer layers between an idea and actually making it happen, plenty of flexibility, and a real say in what we build and how we build it.

A few things that matter to us:

  • The people. We believe the people you work with are just as important as the work itself. We look for people who lift others up, share what they know, and make the work environment better for everyone.

  • An open culture. Good ideas can come from anywhere. We don't care much about titles or hierarchy, and we want everyone to feel comfortable speaking up.

  • Trust and flexibility. We want people to take responsibility, make decisions, and have the space to do their best work without unnecessary bureaucracy.

  • Actually enjoying coming to work. We work together from our office at Tøyen in Oslo, where there's always someone to bounce ideas off, have a conversation with, or share a great lunch prepared by our amazing chefs.

And perhaps the most exciting part? You'll be helping us rethink something as ordinary, and as important, as how people get their groceries.
