Job summary

Intertek is seeking experienced Freelance Electrical & Instrumentation Inspectors to join its network for ongoing projects across Norway. You will oversee and ensure quality and compliance of electrical and instrumentation installations in high-impact environments.

The role requires inspection, testing, and documentation review to ensure adherence to codes (IEC, NEC, API, ISA) and project specs, with exposure to pre- and post-commissioning activities and NCR handling.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Electrical/Instrumentation/Electronics Engineering is required.
• Certifications in QA/QC or relevant standards are a plus.
• CompEx, ATEX or Hazardous Area certifications are advantageous for oil & gas roles.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and verify installation of electrical systems, control panels, grounding, lighting, cable trays, and enclosures.
• Inspect and test instrumentation loops, calibrate transmitters, switches, valves, and control systems.
• Monitor construction to ensure compliance with drawings, specs, and codes (IEC, NEC, API, ISA).
• Witness pre-commissioning and commissioning activities including loop checks and tests.
• Review and verify ITPs, Method Statements, Calibration Certificates, red-line drawings, and As-Built docs.
• Raise and track NCRs and assist with root cause analysis.
• Coordinate with construction teams, client reps, and third-party inspectors.
• Prepare inspection reports and maintain QA records.
• Ensure all work complies with site HSE requirements.
