Job summary

ALTEK AI is seeking its first internal engineer to join the product and technology team in Oslo. You will help define how we build technology going forward, including backend in Python and frontend in React/TypeScript, plus AI agents in production.

You’ll translate customer problems into technical decisions, take ideas from prototype to production, and work closely with hotels as we scale internationally. Fluency in English is required; Norwegian is a plus.

ALTEK AI is a Norwegian AI startup building the technology that automates hotel operations, starting with guest communication. Founded in 2024 by two technical co-founders, we've grown in under two years from our first customer to 115 hotels signed across 8 countries, approaching NOK 4M in ARR, with several major hotel chains in the pipeline. We're now scaling further internationally, including into the US, and raising a seed round to accelerate that growth.

Today, our core product is AI Email, which already gives hotels contextual reply suggestions based on availability, pricing, and reservations, powered by AI agents that pull information from the hotel's various systems. The ambition goes far beyond email: over time, these agents will also automate the research, coordination, and execution behind decisions. AI Phone is the next step on this path, toward a platform where hotel teams spend less time operating software and more time doing hospitality.

About the role

The founders can no longer own all technical development themselves, so we're hiring our very first internal engineer. You'll join the product and technology team, report to both founders, and help define how we build technology going forward. This isn't a role where you implement a finished roadmap.

You'll get to:

• Build and evolve AI agents and LLM systems in production, including retrieval/grounding, tool calling/skills, and evaluation infrastructure


• Define the logic for when AI should act on its own, and when a human should be involved


• Work across the whole stack, from architecture and backend in Python to frontend in React/TypeScript


• Take things from idea and prototype to production, and iterate quickly based on real usage


• Work closely with hotels and translate customer problems into technical and product decisions

Because you're joining this early, the growth potential is significant.

Who we're looking for

• A strong software engineer with solid experience in Python and backend development


• Hands-on experience with LLMs/LLM APIs, ideally also AI agents and tool calling


• Experience taking systems from prototype to production, and understand the difference between a demo and something that has to be stable for real customers every day


• Enough understanding of frontend (React/TypeScript) to build a full-stack solution yourself


• Comfortable working independently and making decisions without everything being specified upfront


• Fluent in English, spoken and written. Norwegian is a plus, not a requirement

You need to be comfortable occasionally traveling to hotels and customer meetings.

We build on Python and FastAPI on the backend, LLMs and AI agents, evals and grounding, React/TypeScript on the frontend, and run on Google Cloud. You don't need to have worked with exactly this before, but it's a plus.

We're an early-stage technology company, and specific frameworks and tools can be learned on the job. Either way, you'll have real influence on the technical choices we make going forward.
