Job summary

University of Utah Health is seeking a Psychiatric Technician for Youth Intermediate Services as a full-time role. The position will support HMHI Youth Intermediate Services programs and inpatient units as needed, ensuring patient safety and contributing to treatment planning.

The role requires experience in behavioral health, strong interpersonal and crisis-resolution skills, and flexibility to work across program settings. On-site work with a commitment to patient-centered care is emphasized.

Qualifications

• Six months of behavioral health or direct patient care experience.
• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through University of Utah Health RQI system; required within 30 days of hire.
• Additional license requirements may be determined by the hiring department.

Responsibilities

• Assists with maintaining a safe and hazard-free environment; observes patient behavior and documents it.
• Assists with admission of new patients; conducts routine nursing assessments.
• Orients patients and families to facility policies and procedures.
• Escorts patients to appointments and activities to ensure safety.
• Facilitates therapeutic activities and group therapy participation.
• Provides support for patient treatment planning and discharge planning.
• Participates in interdisciplinary treatment team discussions to update care plans.
