Job summary

Neiman Marcus in a luxury retail store seeks a skilled facilities maintenance technician to maintain and repair building systems across our store. You will handle electrical, HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and energy management tasks to ensure uninterrupted operations.

The role requires preventive maintenance, ability to troubleshoot critical equipment, and coordination with the Regional Manager. Strong communication and self-motivation are essential for success in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in mechanical or electrical field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in mechanical or electrical maintenance.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders.
  • Able to communicate effectively with peers, management and vendors.
  • Self-motivated and customer-centric.

Responsibilities

  • Perform weekly preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment.
  • Inspect facility equipment including boilers, generators, HVAC and vertical transportation.
  • Order maintenance supplies and assist Regional Manager with budgeted expenses.
  • Support capital projects and energy management systems (lighting and controls).
  • Assist with store systems support (POS, telephone) as needed.
  • Respond to after-hours and emergency calls; overtime may be required.

YOU WILL BE

This position’s primary role will be the maintenance, repair and general upkeep of most systems in a NM retail store. This position will aid in maintaining and troubleshooting all critical building equipment that includes but is not limited to electrical work, plumbing, HVAC, dock doors, lighting (lamps/ballasts), generators, flush valves, and facets.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Responsible for weekly preventive maintenance on all building equipment and building envelop, to include daily/weekly and monthly logging of safety inspections
  • Inspections must occur on facility equipment such as vertical transportation, boilers, generators and HVAC
  • Responsible for ordering maintenance supplies and assisting the Regional Manager in managing the maintenance expense accounts
  • Assist Regional Manager with execution of capital planning projects.
  • Engineer will maintain and/or coordinate all building energy management systems to include lighting through the Trane Ensemble Software.
  • Store systems that may need support would include, but not limited to Point of Sale (POS) and Telephone systems
  • Support of kitchen equipment may be required
  • Must be able to respond to after-hours and emergency calls and overtime may be required
  • Must be able to work with limited time off between Black Friday and January 8.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • Degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field
  • Two to Five years experience or four years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field
  • Must have a background in building maintenance, electrical, and HVAC
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and self-prioritize work assignments
  • Able to work with others as well as independently and be a self-starter
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with regular bending, lifting and reaching both below the waist and above the head and able to climb ladders
  • Ability to communicate effectively, (written and verbally) with peers, management, contractors and vendors
  • Understanding and knowledge of SDS (Safety Data Sheets) information
  • Must be highly self-motivated and customer-centric
