DNV is seeking a Researcher in energy security to develop methods and digital tools for assessing cascading effects from loss of electricity supply. The role combines power systems knowledge with data science and risk analysis.

You will work with open-source data, AI-assisted analysis, and case studies to translate insights into future DNV assurance services, collaborating with operators of critical infrastructure in an international research environment.

Qualifications

• Strong programming and data-analysis skills.
• Experience with dependency analysis, network modelling or consequence modelling.
• Experience using AI or NLP to structure open-source information.
• Ability to integrate technical, geographical and societal data into transparent models.

Responsabilités

• Develop a method for assessing direct and cascading effects from loss of electricity supply.
• Model dependencies between power supply, end users, and critical societal functions.
• Use open-source information and AI-supported methods to collect, classify and link assets, services, dependencies and consequence pathways.
• Combine power-system, geographical and societal data in transparent models that account for outage duration and recovery.
• Develop and validate prototypes through case studies, historical incidents and expert input; document data sources and validation results.
• Translate research results into concepts and requirements for future DNV assurance services.
• Communicate methods and results through reports, publications and demonstrators.
