Job description

As a Data Engineer in NOBA Bank Group, you'll turn raw data into structured, high-quality assets that the whole organization can use. You'll build and evolve our data platform and help the bank innovate and grow through reliable, accessible data.

About the role:

The Data & Analytics Engineering department brings together specialists in data infrastructure, analytics, and data management. Together we build a modern and reliable data foundation that supports decision making across the business. This role is in the Data Management & New Initiatives team.

You'll design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and data models on Databricks and dbt. You'll work with colleagues across the bank to understand business needs and translate them into well-designed, scalable data solutions. From ingesting new sources to modelling data for analytics and reporting, you'll own the work end to end and see the impact of what you build.

We use AI extensively in our daily work, from writing and reviewing code to documentation and analysis. You'll be encouraged to use AI tools to work faster and smarter, and to help us find new ways to apply them.

This is a great opportunity to enjoy a high degree of self-responsibility and to expand your expertise into areas of your interest. You'll collaborate broadly and see the tangible results of your work.

We offer a hybrid working model with two common in-office days. While we value flexibility, we also prioritize collaboration, team building, and enjoying fikas and after work gatherings together!

Main tasks:
  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using Databricks and dbt
  • Develop and maintain data models that make data easy to understand and use for analytics and reporting
  • Integrate new data sources and transform data from ingestion through to consumption.
  • Optimize pipeline performance, scalability, and cost
  • Apply version control and CI/CD practices to deploy changes safely and efficiently
  • Use AI tools to speed up development, testing, and documentation, while applying sound judgment on quality and security
  • Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver data that meets real needs
  • Ensure data quality, security, and compliance throughout the data lifecycle
  • Document solutions and contribute to best practices
We are looking for you who:

Enjoys building well-structured, reliable data solutions and is curious about new technologies and modern data engineering practices. You like understanding the “why” behind a business need and turning it into something practical and scalable.

You're proactive and detail-oriented, you thrive in collaborative environments, and you approach challenges with a “can-do” mindset. You value a high degree of self-responsibility and are motivated to grow in the areas that interest you. You're open to using AI as part of how you work and stay curious about how it changes modern data engineering.

For this role, you'll need:
  • Experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar technical role
  • Fluency in English, along with fluency in either Swedish or Norwegian
  • An academic degree in a relevant field such as data engineering, computer science, or a related discipline
  • Practical experience with both Databricks and dbt in a production environment
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and in ETL/ELT processes, with a solid understanding of how data is sourced, transformed, and delivered to end users
  • Experience with data modelling (e.g., dimensional modelling, medallion architectures)
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure's data stack
  • Solid understanding of version control systems and CI/CD tools
It's positive if you:
  • Python experience
  • Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar) and a pragmatic, curious approach to using them in your work
  • Previous experience in data-focused roles within the financial sector
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code
Our offer to you
  • Freedom with responsibility: Flexible working arrangements to suit your work style and a high degree of self-responsibility

  • Feedback culture: A supportive environment that encourages open communication
  • Coaching leadership: Managers who guide and support your career journey
  • A caring company culture: We genuinely care about each other!

You'll also have the chance to work with cutting-edge data technologies and be part of shaping the future of NOBA's data landscape.
