A financial services organization in London seeks a Credit Manager to oversee credit risk management within the investment framework. The role involves evaluating credit applications, monitoring portfolio risks, and providing strategic insights. Ideal candidates have experience in project finance, strong analytical skills, and fluency in English, with French as a plus. The position promotes a culture of credit excellence and diversity.
The credit manager would be part of the credit management and wider risk team which is overseen by the Head of Credit and Compliance. The team is currently based in London, Singapore and Nairobi. The main function of the risk management team is to ensure preservation of capital by acting as the “second line of defence” behind the investment team at GMC.
The risk management team is responsible for the development of a portfolio which delivers on GuarantCo’s strategic intention of creating high Sustainable Development Impact (SDI) through local currency solutions, while minimising risks. The team is responsible for providing a constructive challenge to new business proposals, ensuring timely and ongoing monitoring of the existing credit portfolio and providing key risk inputs in determining strategic direction of the portfolio in various geographies where GuarantCo operates. The risk management team also works collaboratively with the finance function at GMC and the risk management team at PIDG to provide inputs on key risk models in the areas of ECL, PD and LGD which are used in business decisioning, portfolio monitoring and IFRS 9 accounting.
The ideal candidate will have worked in a major financial institution, accountancy firm, financial advisory firm, private risk insurance market, or a project sponsor/operator ideally focused on infrastructure and project finance in frontier markets for a number of years.
They will have experience of conducting due diligence on complex cash flow-based financings and preferably can demonstrate some experience of working with various sources of risk mitigation.
The candidate would enjoy driving a strong credit culture in the organization through a proactive approach to credit risk management and developing an independent & deep understanding of frontier markets in Asia and Africa.
