Job summary

Sapphire Care is hiring a community care assistant to visit Service Users in their own homes across Rogaland. You will provide daily living support, help with meals, laundry, cleaning, and accompany clients to appointments, using your own transport when required.

The role requires a valid driving licence and a vehicle, and you will report to the Registered Manager about any changes in a service user’s condition, while maintaining daily notes and updating support plans.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid driving licence.
• Own means of transport are required.

Responsibilities

• Visit Service Users who are experiencing difficulties due to disability, illness or age.
• Travel to Service Users as directed.
• Provide personal and caring tasks not requiring a nurse, supporting family-like duties.
• Encourage and motivate Service Users to maintain independence.
• Report to the Registered Manager on significant changes in the Service User’s condition.
• Build rapport and support Service Users under stress, helping to combat loneliness.
• Assist with use of equipment and, if authorised, with artificial limbs.
• Contact a Doctor or Emergency Services and make appointments as needed.
• Prepare and cook meals in the Service User’s home.
• Assist with budgeting, pensions, shopping and bill payments.
• Assist with cleaning tasks and laundry.
• Accompany Service Users to hospital visits.
• Document daily notes and update support plans when needed.
• Attend all training and supervision sessions.
• Report accidents, incidents, and safeguarding concerns.
• Adhere to company policy and procedures at all times.

INTRODUCTION

Sapphire Care Limited provides care and support to individuals or families in their own homes whereby reason of infirmity, illness, incapacity or social problems, they are prevented from effectively undertaking various duties themselves. The aim is to prolong the independence of the Service User in the community.

POST OBJECTIVES

To provide care and support, including normal household tasks to individuals or families where, by reason of infirmity, illness, incapacity or social problems they are unable to undertake these responsibilities effectively the aim being to assist the Service User to remain independent in the community for as long as possible.

Duties And Responsibilities

• To visit Service Users who are experiencing difficulties because of a variety of disability, whether this be due to physical disability, old age, mental disability or illness.
• To travel to Service Users as directed.
• To carry out personal and caring tasks that are not the responsibility of a Registered Nurse, but which could normally be expected to be undertaken by a member of the family.
• To encourage and motivate Service Users to maintain their independence within their limitations.
• To report to the Registered Manager on the condition of the Service User particularly any significant change in the Service User’s behaviour needs or circumstances.
• To establish a relationship with the Service User by giving support to those Service Users under stress, having regard to the social needs of Service User’s e.g. Combat loneliness and improve the quality of life for the Service User whenever possible.
• To encourage to use special equipment provided and to assist Service Users, if authorised by the Registered Manager with the use of artificial limbs.
• To contact a Doctor, Emergency Services or make appointments.
• To participate in the company’s policy and procedure in relation to the administration of medication.
• To prepare and cook meals in the Service User’s home.
• To assist with the budgeting of household accounts, collect pensions, shopping and pay bills when this cannot be undertaken by others.

• To assist the service user with laundry requirements, washing and Ironing.
• To accompany service users on hospital visits.
• To document and record in the daily notes and update service users support plan if and when needed.
• To attend all booked training sessions.
• To attend booked supervision sessions with your manager.

To report all accidents, incidents and safeguarding concerns to your manager.

• To adhere to company policy and procedure at all times.
• To comply with any other reasonable requests made by the Registered Manager.
