Job summary

Nutreco, in Stavanger, Norway, seeks a Specialist Cell Biologist for Cell Feed to advance cell culture media development for the cultivated protein industry. Join our Biotechnology team on a long-term temporary assignment, working in a small, entrepreneurial environment to develop innovative cell feed solutions and strengthen our research capabilities.

You will develop and test cell culture media, implement new methodologies, and support the ongoing development of our cell culture laboratory

Qualifications

MSc or PhD in Biomedicine, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
Extensive hands-on mammalian cell culture experience (2D/3D models, stem cells, aseptic techniques).
Knowledge of cell culture media development and cell nutrition research.
Strong experimental design, statistics, data analysis, and ability to independently design, execute, troubleshoot, and interpret experiments.
Experience developing, optimizing, and implementing laboratory methods and techniques relevant to cell-based R&D.
Biotech/R&D industry experience.
Strong communication; ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences.
Background in quality-focused lab with good documentation.

Responsibilities

Set up, maintain, and apply 2D and 3D cell culture models.
Develop and optimize tailor-made cell culture media for different cell types.
Test premixes and functional ingredients across relevant cell models.
Plan and conduct cell nutrition research and interpret experimental outcomes.
Independently plan, prioritize, execute, troubleshoot, and document experiments.
Develop, optimize, and implement new laboratory methods and techniques.
Generate high-quality data and communicate results to project managers and other stakeholders.
Support the day-to-day operation and continuous improvement of the cell culture laboratory, including routines, equipment, consumables, documentation, and organization.
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary internal teams and external industry partners.
Present scientific work to technical and non-technical audiences.
