Job summary

Nutreco's Biotechnology team seeks a Specialist Cell Biologist for Cell Feed to advance cell culture media development for cultivated protein. The role is based at the Skretting Bubble research centre in Stavanger, Norway, on a long-term temporary assignment.

You will lead experiments, develop media, and collaborate with internal and external partners. You will work from the research centre, contribute to project goals, and present findings to diverse audiences in English.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Biomedicine, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• Extensive hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture (2D and 3D) and aseptic techniques.
• Knowledge of cell culture media development, optimization, and cell nutrition research.
• Experience from a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or other R&D environment.
• Experience with induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Set up, maintain, and apply 2D and 3D cell culture models.
• Develop and optimize tailor-made cell culture media for different cell types.
• Test premixes and functional ingredients across relevant cell models.
• Plan and conduct cell nutrition research and interpret experimental outcomes.
• Independently plan, prioritize, execute, troubleshoot, and document experiments.
• Develop, optimize, and implement new laboratory methods and techniques.
• Generate high-quality data and communicate results to project managers and other stakeholders.
• Support the day-to-day operation and continuous improvement of the cell culture laboratory, including routines, equipment, consumables, documentation, and organization.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary internal teams and external industry partners.
• Present scientific work to technical and non-technical audiences.
