Job summary

Wise London is seeking a backend engineer to help build scalable services that power how recipients are added, found, and managed. You will work in an autonomous team, partnering with designers, product managers and analysts to deliver backend solutions that support Wise’s recipient network across our London office.

You should have strong experience with Java or similar OO languages, large-scale distributed systems, and both relational and non-relational databases.

• You have strong experience with Java or a similar object-oriented language.
• You have experience with relational and non-relational databases, query optimisation and designing schemas.
• You have a strong product mindset and passion for customer experience, you prioritise work with the customers in mind and make data-driven decisions to fix customer pain-points.
• You enjoy collaborating with others and bringing people together to solve a problem.
• You have experience in designing, deploying and maintaining clean RESTful APIs.
• You believe in and follow best coding practices, code reviews and open feedback.
• You enjoy writing testable code and believe in Test Driven Development.
