Job summary

The University of Stavanger invites applications for an Associate Professor position in Environmental Biotechnology within the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Chemistry, Bioscience and Environmental Engineering. The appointee will conduct research, teach at bachelor, master and doctoral levels, supervise students and collaborate with industry and public sector partners.

Proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language at minimum B2 is required; English is also used.

Qualifications

• PhD in environmental biotechnology, environmental engineering or a closely related field.
• Competence at a comparable level documented by scientific work of comparable scope and quality.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct high-level research and potential for future impact in the subject area.
• Experience with teaching and supervision in higher education; 200 hours of courses in university-/college teaching with teaching practice, or complete university pedagogy courses within two years.
• Proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language at minimum B2 level upon appointment; English language skills are also required.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to research, teaching, and supervision at bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels.
• Disseminate research results and develop collaborations with industry and public sector partners.
• Advance innovative and digital teaching methods and open research practices as part of the role.
• Develop an independent research and teaching portfolio within an active, collaborative, and internationally oriented environment.
• Engage in industrial projects and fieldwork; contribute to the department’s strategic priorities and networks.
