Norse Navigation is seeking an Applications Engineer for our Trondheim office. This hands-on role works closely with product development, customers and vessels, spanning testing, installation, troubleshooting and product improvements.
You will travel for onboard commissioning, support partners, and contribute to test campaigns and documentation, shaping practical navigation solutions for the maritime industry.
A hands-on, technically curious role working closely with product development, customers and vessels.
Norse Navigation is developing a new generation of navigation products for the maritime industry. We are now looking for a practical and technically curious Application Engineer who wants a broad role working closely with product development, customers and vessels.
With us, you won't be confined to one narrow part of the product. You will work with everything from testing and system integration to installation, troubleshooting and further development of our products.
One week you may be onboard a vessel commissioning a new system. The next, you may be working with the development team to track down the root cause of a technical issue, improve a test setup or contribute to a new product feature.
The experience you gain out with customers and in hands-on testing will help shape our products, our installation methods and the way we work.
This is a permanent, full-time position based at our office in Trondheim. The role involves hands‑on work with hardware, test equipment and vessels, and some travel should be expected.
First and foremost, we are looking for someone who likes to understand how things work, make them work, and figure out why they don't when something goes wrong.
You may have a background in electrical engineering, electronics, automation, IT, telecommunications, maritime systems or similar. A relevant trade certificate, technical college degree, bachelor's degree or equivalent experience are all good starting points.
We think you'll be a good fit if you:
Experience from the maritime industry is an advantage, but not a requirement. The same applies to experience with GNSS, navigation systems, Ethernet, serial communication, Python or Bash.
What matters most is that you are technically curious, learn quickly and thrive in a varied working day.
This is a role for someone who wants something broader than a traditional developer, service or engineering position - and who finds it exciting to help build both the products and the company around them.
Norse Navigation is building a new generation of resilient and integrated navigation products for the maritime industry.
The company was founded in Trondheim by a team with extensive experience from maritime navigation, product development and certification. Our products are developed for an international market and aim to make modern navigation systems easier to install, integrate and use - while meeting increasingly strict requirements for precision, cybersecurity and resilience against threats such as jamming and spoofing.
Norse Navigation has received support from Innovasjon Norge, the Norwegian Space Agency and the European Space Agency.
