Job description

Odfjell Technology is an integrated supplier of offshore operations, well services technology, and engineering solutions. We deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable operations, reducing time, cost, and carbon emissions for our clients. With more than 2,300 employees across 30 countries, we combine 50 years of industry experience with forward-looking technology to support the evolving energy market.

Are you curious about how businesses work, comfortable investigating complex data and motivated by turning both into practical solutions?

Odfjell Technology is looking for an Analytics Engineer. You will help develop trusted data products that make information easier to understand, use and act on across the business.

This role sits at the intersection of business understanding, analytics and engineering. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data owners, data engineers, report developers and platform specialists to understand real challenges and translate them into reliable transformations, curated datasets, analytical models and useful data products.

You will contribute across the complete product lifecycle, from exploring business needs and source data to development, deployment, production support and continuous improvement. The role suits someone who enjoys combining analytical thinking with hands‑on engineering and taking responsibility for solutions that are used in practice.

Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience translating business needs and processes into clear data requirements, user stories, data models, and measurable outcomes.
  • Practical experience developing data products on modern cloud data platforms, including data ingestion, transformation, modelling, testing, orchestration, and monitoring.
  • Strong SQL skills and working knowledge of Python and/or PySpark.
  • Experience with technologies such as Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, or similar, together with Git-based version control and CI/CD practices. Experience with dbt for SQL-based transformation, modelling, testing, and documentation is an advantage.
  • Experience with dimensional modelling, semantic models, and business intelligence tools, preferably Power BI.
  • Understanding of data quality, metadata, security, lineage, and governance requirements throughout the data product lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate data, identify root causes, and turn findings into practical solutions.
  • Good communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams.
  • Fluent in English, written and oral.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand processes, challenges, and decision‑making needs, and translate them into prioritised requirements for data products.
  • Design, build, and maintain reliable data products, including ingestion pipelines, transformations, curated datasets, data models, semantic models, and analytical outputs.
  • Explore and analyse source data to assess quality, identify gaps, and define suitable business rules with data owners and subject‑matter experts.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and other analytical solutions where these form part of the data product.
  • Apply software engineering practices such as version control, code review, automated testing, documentation, and CI/CD, using tools such as dbt to develop, test, and document SQL-based transformations and data models.
  • Take end‑to‑end responsibility for assigned data products, from discovery and design through development, deployment, support, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor data products in production, troubleshoot incidents, and improve performance, reliability, usability, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure that data products follow agreed architecture, security, governance, quality, and lifecycle standards, and meet agreed acceptance criteria and delivery commitments.
  • Document data definitions, transformations, lineage, ownership, and user guidance to support trusted and sustainable use.
  • Collaborate across business and technical teams, communicate progress, dependencies, and risks clearly, and contribute to knowledge sharing, reusable components, and common ways of working.

Join us in building trusted data products that create measurable value for the business.
