Job summary

Nebul is building Europe’s Intelligent Cloud and is expanding its virtualization capabilities. We seek a Senior Virtualization Platform Engineer to design, build and operate the virtualization layer at Nebul’s cloud platform.

You will work at the intersection of Kubernetes, virtual machines and containers, shaping the future of virtualization. Join a hands-on, senior team that leverages KubeVirt, Cloud Hypervisor, KVM and QEMU to push performance, security and data sovereignty.

Qualifications

• Significant professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering or systems engineering.
• Deep technical knowledge of virtualization concepts and technologies.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture and operations.
• Hands-on experience with KubeVirt, KVM, QEMU or comparable virtualization technologies.
• Strong Linux systems-engineering and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code.
• Good understanding of networking, storage and security within virtualized environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate Kubernetes-based virtualization solutions.
• Develop, optimize and maintain our KubeVirt environment.

• Contribute to architectural decisions and the technical virtualization roadmap.
• Build monitoring, observability and operational tooling for the platform.
• Establish engineering standards and share specialist knowledge across the organisation.

Nebul is building Europe’s Intelligent Cloud: a sovereign cloud and AI infrastructure platform designed for organisations that require performance, control, security and data sovereignty.

We develop and operate advanced cloud, Kubernetes and GPU infrastructure across Europe. As our platform continues to grow, we are expanding the engineering capabilities behind our virtualization layer.

We are therefore looking for a Virtualization Platform Engineer who combines strong Kubernetes and DevOps expertise with deep knowledge of virtualization technologies.

Your Role

As a Senior Virtualization Platform Engineer, you will help design, build and operate the virtualization layer within Nebul’s cloud platform.

Our current environment uses KubeVirt, while we are developing additional capabilities based on Cloud Hypervisor. You will work at the intersection of Kubernetes, virtual machines, containers and low-level Linux virtualization.

This is a hands‑on engineering role for a senior DevOps, platform or infrastructure engineer with a strong specialization in virtualization. A deep background in KVM and QEMU is equally relevant, provided you understand—or are ready to work extensively with—Kubernetes-based infrastructure.

You will take ownership of complex technical challenges and help define the future architecture of virtualization within Nebul.

What We Are Looking For

• Hands‑on experience with KubeVirt, KVM, QEMU or comparable virtualization technologies
• Strong Linux systems-engineering and troubleshooting skills
• Experience with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code
• Good understanding of networking, storage and security within virtualized environments
• Experience diagnosing performance, availability and reliability issues at platform level
• The ability to take ownership of technically complex projects
• A pragmatic engineering mindset and a willingness to build new capabilities from the ground up

Nice to Have

• Hands‑on experience with Cloud Hypervisor
• Knowledge of confidential computing and hardware‑backed isolation
• Experience with microVM technologies
• Experience with Kata Containers, Firecracker or similar runtimes
• Programming or automation experience in Rust, Go or Python
• Familiarity with OpenStack and cloud‑native infrastructure
• Experience with high‑performance computing or GPU infrastructure
• Knowledge of hardware virtualization, CPU architecture and performance optimization
• Experience contributing to open‑source infrastructure projects
