At Confed, we don’t just develop products; we create the intelligence behind the devices of tomorrow! As a System Architect, you’ll play a key role in our development process. You’ll sit down with the client to understand the need behind the request and translate this into a feasible, future-proof solution for our engineering teams.
You will work closely with clients, our sales and project managers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to arrive at well-supported and feasible system choices.
You will draw up high-level designs and make crucial decisions regarding platforms, interfaces, protocols and system boundaries. In doing so, you will balance functionality against aspects such as reliability, safety, cost and time-to-market.
You ensure consistency between hardware, firmware, software and integration, and guarantee that decisions at system level are technically, functionally and commercially sound.
You maintain the overarching vision throughout the development process. You support the lead engineers and safeguard the integrity of the chosen solution.
You identify technical risks at an early stage and help teams make informed decisions regarding feasibility, performance, manufacturability and maintainability.
You closely monitor relevant market developments, such as IoT security, Edge AI, low-power design and new connectivity standards, and apply them where they add value.
A close-knit and enthusiastic team
You are given the freedom to provide substantive direction on complex embedded challenges and to work on solutions that are actually produced and implemented.
A challenging role within a dedicated development organisation with short lines of communication.
Plenty of scope for your own input, technical specialisation and personal development.
A working environment close to our production site, allowing you to liaise quickly with colleagues on the production floor and see your solutions put into practice straight away.
Good employment conditions, such as flexible working hours, travel allowance, a laptop, a mobile phone and pension contributions.
You have a completed HBO/WO degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems or a comparable field.
You have 5 to 10 years’ experience in embedded product development, a substantial part of which has been in an architectural role.
You have demonstrable knowledge of embedded systems and understand printed circuit board design at both schematic and layout levels.
You have an understanding of microcontrollers, SoCs, FPGAs, sensors, actuators, buses and power supply topologies.
You are familiar with electronics tools such as the oscilloscope, logic analyser, Altium and LTSpice.
You are not only a thinker but also a doer; you can independently prototype, debug and, where necessary, analyse code or hardware to help teams move forward.
You have strong analytical skills, a pragmatic approach and excellent communication skills.
You have a good command of both Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
