Job description
Technical Writer at Nedap Livestock

What are you going to do?

As a Technical Writer at Nedap Livestock, you are the link between our technical teams and the people who work with our technology. Whether it's an installer in Canada or a farmer on a dairy farm in New Zealand, your clear instructions and documentation in the form of installation manuals, datasheets and quick starts enable them to get started with our products effortlessly.

You will work closely with the R&D teams to gather information and translate it into clear instructions. You will not only document new products, but also keep existing content up to date and consistent. In addition, you will coordinate with Marketing and the Academy on terminology, translations and tone of voice. Our support department is an important stakeholder because they are in direct contact with our Business Partners on a daily basis and therefore have insight into their information needs.

In short: your work makes our technology accessible worldwide. You help users get started faster and avoid mistakes – which is essential in an industry where reliability and precision make all the difference.

Your responsibilities

  • Coordinating with Product Owners on priorities, changes and releases and drawing up a feasible schedule based on this;
  • Making complex information accessible: You retrieve the right information and translate it into clear and usable documentation and maintain it;
  • Managing document templates and document standards. We use the Microsoft Writing Style Guide;
  • Monitoring the user experience: You think from the end user's perspective and ensure that our documentation is intuitive and easy to read – even for non-technical audiences;
  • Coordinating the translation process: Because our products are used worldwide, you are also responsible for translations. You ensure that documentation is translated correctly and on time in collaboration with translation partners;
  • Content point of contact: You are the expert in the field of technical documentation and the point of contact for questions regarding translations and terminology;
  • Monitoring quality: by reviewing documents supplied by both internal and external partners.

Your team

Together with a junior Tech Writer, you will form the Technical Documentation team and be part of our R&D department. You will take the lead in the team, ensuring proper coordination with Product Owners regarding upcoming changes, priorities and releases. You will maintain an overview and draw up a feasible schedule for the team. Together with your colleague Tech Writer, you will work on the executive tasks to ensure that the correct documentation is delivered in the right quality within the set deadlines.

Our offer

As a Technical Writer at Nedap, you will make a valuable contribution to our goal: making people happier and more successful in their professional lives. The salary range for this role is between € 3,900 and € 5,100 gross per month based on full-time employment (38 hours) and depends on relevant knowledge and experience. In addition to your salary, you are entitled to a thirteenth month's salary, a good pension scheme, and profit sharing with the option of becoming a Nedap shareholder. For us, it's all about trust and autonomy. That's why you determine your own working hours and holiday days. We also attach great importance to personal and professional growth. You will receive a comprehensive introduction and we encourage you to continue developing yourself.

Required experience and skills

You have extensive experience (approx. 5 years) as a Technical Writer or in a similar role. You also recognise yourself in the following:

  • Skills: You write clearly and accessibly: from user manuals to data sheets;
  • Language skills: You have a command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written;
  • Soft skills: You combine analytical thinking with independent working and effective collaboration;

  • Bonus points if you have experience with translations or managing translation agencies.

Good to know: You are available for 32 hours per week (minimum 24 hours).
