Qualifications

• HBO or WO degree in computer science, systems engineering, software engineering, or a comparable discipline.
• 8+ years developing technical solutions for complex or mission-critical systems.
• Demonstrated customer engagement, solution development, and technical leadership experience.
• Experience designing cloud-native and hybrid solutions.
• Strong knowledge of systems engineering and software development methodologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Fluent Dutch and English, written and spoken.
• Willing and able to undergo security screening by the Dutch security services.

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end and deployment architectures across cloud, on-premise, hybrid, and disconnected environments; balance capability, cost, schedule, risk.
• Support capture and proposal development, including technical volumes, white papers, and statements of work; present to stakeholders; support pilots and strategic partnerships.
• Ensure customer requirements inform product roadmaps; work with engineering to align solutions with capabilities.
• Define high-level integration and deployment concepts; identify dependencies and risks; transition to detailed design and deployment.
• Evaluate emerging technologies such as AI, digital engineering, digital twins, and analytics; contribute to roadmaps.

At Axient Systems we are building sovereign Dutch defence and space capability. From Delft, at the heart of the Dutch aerospace ecosystem, we work for the Netherlands Ministry of Defence and other government and commercial customers across space systems engineering, modelling & simulation, and critical asset security. Our modelling & simulation team develops and operates platforms such as DomeinSIM, our multi-domain simulation platform, alongside Titan Forge and DomeinGARD. We apply them to integrated air and missile defence (IAMD), seabed security, space missions, and the protection of critical assets.

We are looking for a Technical Solution Architect to translate customer mission objectives into technically sound solutions built on our platforms.

The Role

You are the primary technical interface between customers, business development, product management, and engineering. You take a customer's mission objectives and pain points and turn them into solution concepts and CONOPS, and you carry those concepts through demonstrations, proposals, and deployment planning. After a win you stay involved: you build the enhancement of DomeinSIM together with the software developers and M&S engineers, or you hand the build to the System Architect and move on to the next opportunity.

The role combines customer engagement with broad technical depth, spanning cloud architecture, AI, digital engineering, situational awareness, cybersecurity, and DevSecOps, to deliver mission-focused solutions for our defence and security customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as primary technical representative in customer meetings and demonstrations; understand mission objectives and pain points; translate challenges into solution concepts and CONOPS built on our platforms
• Define end-to-end and deployment architectures across cloud, on-premise, hybrid, and disconnected environments; recommend approaches that balance capability, cost, schedule, and risk
• Partner with business development and leadership to shape opportunities; support capture and proposal development, including technical volumes, white papers, and statements of work; present to stakeholders; support pilots and strategic partnerships
• Ensure customer requirements inform product roadmaps; work with the System Architect and engineering to communicate use cases and align solutions with product capabilities
• Define high-level integration and deployment concepts; identify technical dependencies and risks; support the transition to detailed design and customer deployment
• Evaluate emerging technologies such as AI, digital engineering, digital twins, and analytics; contribute to product and technology roadmaps and investment recommendations

Essential Qualifications

• HBO or WO degree in computer science, systems engineering, software engineering, or a comparable discipline
• 8+ years developing technical solutions for complex or mission-critical systems
• Demonstrated customer engagement, solution development, and technical leadership experience
• Experience designing cloud-native and hybrid solutions
• Strong knowledge of systems engineering and software development methodologies

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience on MoD, NATO, or European government programmes

• Business development, capture, and proposal experience
