Job summary

AddOptics in Rotterdam is seeking a hands-on project leader who owns the handover from sales to delivery for complex lens prototypes. You drive clarity, priorities, and timelines to ensure successful prototype builds.

You bridge Sales, customers, and the Prototype Engineering team, translating requirements into actionable plans, coordinating suppliers and lab capacity, and proactively managing risks to keep projects on track.

Qualifications

  • 3–7 years running technical projects, ideally in optics, hardware, or precision manufacturing.
  • Sharp eye for detail — you notice when the output doesn't match what was asked.
  • Strong process discipline: you build structure where there is none, and hold it under pressure.
  • Clear, confident communication with engineers and customers alike.
  • Comfort reading and interpreting technical scopes of work.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, early-stage environment where priorities shift.
  • Genuine pull toward project ownership — this is a management role, and driving projects is what gets you out of bed.

Responsibilities

  • Taking the Statement of Work from Sales and translating it into a concrete action plan: what needs to be ordered, what needs to be built, what needs to be confirmed.
  • Translating customer requirements into clear, actionable project plans that enable the Prototype Engineering team to execute efficiently.
  • Initiating supplier orders without delay and aligning lab capacity with the Head of Labs.
  • Keeping the customer informed throughout — proactively, clearly, and at the right level of detail for a technical audience.
  • Staying on top of every moving part: specs, timelines, dependencies, and final output.
  • Coordinating priorities, requirements, and timelines across Sales, customers, suppliers, and the Prototype Engineering team.
  • Catching risks before they become problems, and acting on them first.
  • Building the structure and rhythm that keep fast-moving projects on track — and improving how we run them as we grow.

Job description

Own the Handover. Drive the Build. Deliver the Lens.

Location: Rotterdam, NL Commitment: Full time Experience: 4+ years

You're the person who turns a signed contract into a finished lens.

At AddOptics, prototype speed is a competitive advantage — and you're the one who protects it. The moment Sales closes a deal, you pick up the Statement of Work and ask the questions that matter: what exactly needs to happen, and how fast can we build it? From that point on, the project is yours. You drive it from handover to delivery — ensuring the Prototype Engineering team has clear requirements, priorities, and timelines to execute successfully.

You are the bridge between Sales, customers, and the Prototype Engineering team — ensuring that what’s promised also gets clearly defined, prioritized, and delivered accordingly. You speak both languages: you can hold a technical conversation with the lab and a clear, confident one with the customer. Project ownership isn't a slice of this job — it's the whole job.

What You’ll Be Working On
  • Taking the Statement of Work from Sales and translating it into a concrete action plan: what needs to be ordered, what needs to be built, what needs to be confirmed

  • Translating customer requirements into clear, actionable project plans that enable the Prototype Engineering team to execute efficiently

  • Initiating supplier orders without delay and aligning lab capacity with the Head of Labs

  • Keeping the customer informed throughout — proactively, clearly, and at the right level of detail for a technical audience

  • Staying on top of every moving part: specs, timelines, dependencies, and final output

  • Coordinating priorities, requirements, and timelines across Sales, customers, suppliers, and the Prototype Engineering team

  • Catching risks before they become problems, and acting on them first

  • Building the structure and rhythm that keep fast-moving projects on track — and improving how we run them as we grow

What We’re Looking For
  • 3–7 years running technical projects, ideally in optics, hardware, or precision manufacturing

  • A sharp eye for detail — you notice when the output doesn't match what was asked

  • Strong process discipline: you build structure where there is none, and hold it under pressure

  • Clear, confident communication with engineers and customers alike

  • Comfort reading and interpreting technical scopes of work

  • The ability to thrive in a fast-moving, early-stage environment where priorities shift

  • A genuine pull toward project ownership — this is a management role, and driving projects is what gets you out of bed

The Kind of Person Who Thrives Here

You get energy from closing the gap between what was promised and what the Prototype Engineering team delivers. You don't wait to be told — you see what needs to happen and make it happen. You're organized without being rigid, and precise without losing sight of the bigger picture. And you genuinely enjoy being the dependable centre of gravity that a technical team and a customer can both rely on.

What You’ll Get
  • Direct ownership of customer projects in a growing, high-impact team

  • Regular exposure to cutting-edge optical and AR technology

  • We take the work seriously — and we take the time to celebrate what we achieve together

  • Competitive salary and benefits
