Job summary

Huxley is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead large cross-organizational software development projects in Amsterdam. The role requires deep technical background and the ability to operate in an entrepreneurial environment with ambiguity.

You will drive high-level strategy while also contributing hands-on to drive change, manage risks, and ensure successful delivery across multiple teams using agile and blended delivery approaches.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain and disseminate project information to stakeholders
• Communicate project issues and status clearly and professionally
• Demonstrate curiosity and ability to understand architectural and technical aspects of projects
• Apply best practices to the SDLC across agile and blended delivery approaches
• Build and maintain integrated project schedules accounting for dependencies and constraints

Technical Program Manager

Overview

Technical Program Managers must have demonstrated experience leading large cross-organizational software development projects, and have a deep technical background. They must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means not only being able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but also being able to roll up your sleeves, dig in, and help drive change.

Required Knowledge

Knowledge of the following is required:

• Service-oriented architecture
• Product development (including Java, XML, messaging protocols, and Web Services)
• Build processes
• Agile project management
• Release schedules

Key Responsibilities

• Interact with project sponsors and project stakeholders to define and deliver projects
• Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance business needs versus technical constraints
• Identify, assess, track and mitigate issues and risks at multiple levels
• Create, maintain and disseminate project information to stakeholders
• Communicate project issues and status in a concise, accurate, and professional manner
• Demonstrate an insatiable curiosity and the ability to understand architectural and technical aspects of projects
• Apply best practices to the software development lifecycle (SDLC) across various agile and blended delivery approaches
• Build and maintain integrated project schedules that account for dependencies, SDLC approaches, constraints, and contingency planning

Education

• Bachelor's degree
• Computer Science / Engineering Bachelor's degree or related technical field

Experience

• Broad Job Knowledge (3 - 5 years)
• Relevant work experience, including technical program management experience
