Oliver James Group is seeking a hands-on Team Lead Financial Control in Amsterdam to own monthly, quarterly, and annual closings and oversee financial reporting for the CEO and leadership. You will drive internal controls, policy documentation, and regulatory compliance while managing a small AP/AR team.

The role requires a fully qualified accountant with 7+ years in finance, strong month-end close experience, and fluency in Dutch and English.

Qualifications

• Must be a fully qualified accountant (RA, AA, ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent).
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in financial accounting, control or finance management.
• Strong experience with month-end/year-end close, reporting, audits, controls and governance.
• Ability to lead a small team while remaining hands-on and operational.
• Strong analytical, reporting and communication skills.
• Fluency in Dutch and English; NGO experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly and annual closing process and the financial reporting for the CEO and leadership team.
• Maintain internal controls, finance policies and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with accounting, statutory and tax requirements.
• Lead audit preparation and manage auditors and external advisors.
• Oversee AP, AR, invoicing, collections, supplier payments and cash flow.
• Coordinate budgeting, forecasting and financial risk/opportunity tracking.
• Further develop the new accounting system and its Salesforce-connected tools.

Team Lead Financial Control

Location: Amsterdam

Contract type: Full-time (40 hours)

Salary: Market conform, up to €90,000 per annum (excluding bonus)

Our client, an international non-profit organisation based in Amsterdam, is looking for a hands-on Finance Lead to take ownership of the organisation's financial accounting and control, managing a small team across AP and AR. As Team Lead Financial Control, you will ensure accurate financial reporting, strong controls, efficient finance operations and compliance with statutory, tax and audit requirements.

You will work closely with the CEO and leadership team, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and providing clear financial insight for decision-making. A key part of the role is to further develop and embed the recently implemented accounting system: you will identify improvement opportunities, implement best-practice finance processes, and drive greater efficiency, automation and control throughout the finance function.
