Job summary

TGW Northern Europe seeks an experienced maintenance team leader for a brand-new, highly automated distribution centre in Heerlen. You will coordinate maintenance activities for on-site automation, lead the team across a 5-shift pattern, and drive continuous improvements using CMMS/DART/SAV Assure and Teams.

You will develop the team through regular 1:1s and PDIs, report on site performance in customer meetings, and ensure audits and safety reports are completed.

Qualifications

• Must have a technical diploma at least MBO-4 and developed mechanical, electrical and software skills.
• If MBO-4 is not electrical, at least an electrical qualification at MBO-2.
• Experience in an operational engineering role within a similar environment.
• Strong language skills in Dutch and English and experience leading a team or coaching others.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate maintenance activities, planned and reactive repairs of automated equipment with the maintenance team in a 5-shift pattern.
• Lead and develop the team through regular 121s and annual PDIs.
• Use internal networks to support site performance and identify improvements.
• Attend customer meetings and report on performance, improvements, and opportunities.
• Work with CMMS/DART/SAV Assure and Teams to ensure continuous improvement.
• Audit site processes and implement follow-up actions.
• Improve daily practices to maximize automation efficiency.
• Prepare reports (near-miss, hazard, shift, spare parts usage, top-loss) in the relevant systems.
• Manage escalations per TGW escalation procedures.

As an experienced leader with a passion for technology and people management, this is your opportunity to take your career to the next level.You will join the newest automated distribution centre in the Netherlands, supporting a leading international sports fashion retailer with more than 4,500 stores across 36 countries. Together with a global 3PL logistics provider, a state-of-the-art 60,000 m² distribution centre is being developed in Heerlen, which will serve as the central logistics hub for all EU operations.This advanced omnichannel facility will combine all European volumes into one highly automated site. Cutting-edge technology includes a TGW automation system with 675 Stingray shuttles, more than 284,000 storage locations and a capacity of 4.8 million units, complemented by a Skyfall pouch system with 90,000 pouches and other innovative logistics solutions provided by leading OEM partners.

What you'll be handling:

• You co-ordinate all maintenance activities, planned repairs and reactive repairs of the automated equipment on site with your maintenance team in a 5 shift pattern
• You motivate your team and conduct regular 121's and annual PDIs to support team development and performance
• You use internal networks across LTS to support site performance, identify improvements, and contribute to site success
• You will be reporting and monitoring performance, attend customer meetings, identifying successes, and opportunities to improve
• You will be using internal tools such as .SAV, DART and CMMS (or other project-specific systems) to ensure continuous improvement
• You perform audits of site processes to ensure compliance, implementing audit follow-up actions to improve the site
• You identify opportunities to improve daily working practices to improve quality and performance and support the automation to operate at its maximum efficiency
• You complete all necessary reports, including near-miss and hazard reports, shift reports, maintenance tasks, spare parts usage reports, and top-loss reports, while working in DART, CMMS, SAV Assure, and Teams software platforms
• You attend daily customer meetings, providing any updates on the automation
• You manage escalations onsite in line with TGW’s Escalation procedure

What you'll need:

• You have a technical diploma at least MBO-4 level and have developed mechanical, electrical and software skills over the years
• If your MBO-4 diploma is not electrical, you need at least an electrical qualification at a MBO-2 level
• You have previous experience working in an operational engineering role within a similar environment
• You have great language skills (Dutch and English) and be experienced in leading a team or coaching and mentoring team members
• You have working knowledge of Siemens S7, Profibus, Canbus, Profinet and ASI Bus
• You will start working in 2 shifts which we will build up to a 4 shift and then a 5 shift pattern
• You are able to work in a time-critical environment
• You are experienced in managing customer/stakeholder communications and relationships
