Job summary

Madern Group is seeking a Team Lead Project Engineering to lead a team of project engineers and mechanical engineers in designing, developing, and delivering custom-built machinery and automated systems.

You will balance technical challenges with commercial requirements, engage with customers and internal stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in machine building, special-purpose machinery, automation, or a similar engineering environment.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams, projects, or multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and machine development.
• Experience managing customer-specific engineering projects.
• Experience with PDM systems and product structuring/configuration management.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization and with customers.
• The ability to create team alignment, build trust, and bring people together around shared goals.
• A strong sense of ownership and the ability to drive initiatives forward and deliver results.
• The ability to balance technical challenges, commercial requirements, and project deadlines.
• A hands-on, pragmatic, and solution-oriented mindset;
• A passion for developing people, improving processes, and helping teams continuously raise performance and engineering standards;
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of project engineers and mechanical engineers.
• Create a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous development within the team.
• Manage project engineering resources, workload planning, and prioritization.
• Ensure the successful execution of machine-building projects from concept to handover.
• Take an active, hands-on role in engineering activities and technical decision-making.
• Translate customer specifications into feasible and cost-effective technical solutions.
• Monitor engineering progress, milestones, budgets, and technical risks.
• Act as a key interface between customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with sales, electrical, software engineering, supply chain, assembly & installation, and service teams.
• Foster team alignment, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and industry standards.
• Drive standardization, continuous improvement, and professionalization of the Mechanical Engineering department.

About your role as a Team Lead Project Engineering

This is a hands-on role where approximately 75% of your time is spent contributing to engineering projects and technical decision-making, while 25% is focused on leading, coaching, and developing the team. Beyond technical expertise, you are someone who naturally takes ownership, brings people together, and creates an environment where teams can perform at their best.You will play a crucial role in strengthening collaboration, driving continuous improvement, and helping the engineering team grow to the next level while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and according to the highest quality standards.

As Team Lead Project Engineering, you will combine people leadership with technical and project oversight. Your key responsibilities include:

• Leading, coaching, and developing a team of project engineers and mechanical engineers;

• Monitoring engineering progress, milestones, budgets, and technical risks;
• Acting as a key interface between customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders;
• Collaborating closely with sales, electrical engineering, software engineering, supply chain, assembly & installation, and the service team;
• Bringing people together by fostering team alignment, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across disciplines;
• Ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and industry standards;
• Driving standardization, continuous improvement, best engineering practices, and the further professionalization of the Mechanical Engineering department.
