Job summary

BD Kiestra is seeking an IT Hardware & Infrastructure Administrator to own and secure the hardware and OS stack powering our R&D test instruments from concept to 4th line support. You will design, implement and maintain critical IT infrastructure in a regulated, high-volume environment.

You will collaborate across BD departments to align with enterprise architecture and security standards, participate in SAFe ceremonies, and support hardware-related product features, with focus on VMware ESX

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, CS or related field.
• 5+ years hands-on system/infrastructure administration experience.
• Deep expertise in server hardware, networking, UPS systems and virtualization (VMware ESX).
• Proven ability to resolve complex, non-routine infrastructure problems with minimal guidance.
• Strong collaboration and communication across multi-functional teams.
• Experience applying IT security policies and hardening standards.

Responsibilities

About the role

As IT Hardware & Infrastructure Administrator within the BD Kiestra R&D Software team in Drachten, you will be the go-to expert for the IT hardware and operating systems that power BD Kiestra instruments from concept through to 4th line customer support. You will design, implement, maintain and secure the IT infrastructure underpinning our R&D test instruments and collaborate across BD departments to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and product security standards.

Main Responsibilities Will Include

• Consult, design and implement IT hardware and operating systems for BD Kiestra Instruments, aligned with enterprise architecture direction and industry standards.
• Implement, maintain and optimise IT hardware and operating systems of R&D test instruments at our Drachten (Marconilaan) facility.
• Provide 4th line support for the IT hardware component of Kiestra solutions (e.g. SCU) deployed at customer sites.
• Collaborate with the SAFe System Architect team within the Kiestra ART on new features with IT hardware or operating system impact.
• Implement BD product security policies for IT hardware and operating systems.
• Author and maintain technical manuals covering IT hardware and operating systems.
• Actively participate in scaled agile / SAFe and Scrum events to align on IT hardware and OS-related topics.
• Engage with suppliers, procurement, operations and BD IT functions as required.
• Stay current with industry standards, emerging technologies and best practices.

About You

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in system / infrastructure administration.
• Deep expertise in server hardware, networking, UPS systems and virtualisation (VMware ESX).
• Proven ability to resolve complex, non-routine infrastructure problems with minimal guidance.
• Strong collaboration, communication and consensus-building skills across multi-functional teams.
• Experience applying IT security policies and hardening standards.
• Familiarity with change management processes and acting as Change Owner.
