Job summary

Finext seeks a Sustainability Consultant who operates at the crossroads of sustainability management, ESG, and IT systems. You will advise CFOs and finance teams on setting up sustainability data and ESG reporting, translating CSRD and related standards into concrete data, processes, and architecture.

You will collaborate with sustainability tooling specialists and guide clients from ambition to practical, auditable solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in (business) consultancy in sustainability management and ESG reporting.
• Solid knowledge of ESG legislation and reporting standards (CSRD, ESRS, EU Taxonomy).
• Affinity for IT solutions for ESG and integrated reporting, you understand how data, systems, and processes come together.
• The ability to translate complex sustainability challenges into concrete, actionable solutions.
• Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English.
• Willingness to work at client sites across the Netherlands, and occasionally in Northwest Europe.

We're looking for a Sustainability Management and ESG Consultant who feels at home at the intersection of sustainability management, ESG, and the IT systems that make it all work. You understand that sustainability management doesn't stop at a strategy document — it lives or dies by how data, processes, and systems are set up. With your experience in sustainability consultancy and your affinity for IT solutions, you bring both together: deep expertise in sustainability and ESG topics, paired with a sharp eye for what it takes technically to make it real. You'll work closely with the Office of the CFO, helping organisations make their sustainability data just as reliable as their financial figures.

What will you do?

• Advise sustainability teams, CFOs, and finance teams on setting up sustainability management and ESG reporting.
• Translate sustainability challenges (such as: SBTi, double materiality, value chain data, CSRD) into a clear approach for data, processes, and systems.
• Advise on, and work alongside, specialists in sustainability management tooling and ESG and integrated reporting solutions.
• Build the bridge between sustainability content and application architecture, so sustainability management and ESG reporting become repeatable and auditable.
• Guide clients from first ambition to working solution, not a thick report, but a system that actually works.
• Share your knowledge actively with colleagues and help grow Finext's proposition in sustainability management and ESG & integrated reporting.
• Spot opportunities with existing and new clients, and help shape the future of this field within Finext.

What you bring

• 5+ years of experience in (business) consultancy in sustainability management and ESG reporting.
• Solid knowledge of ESG legislation and reporting standards (CSRD, ESRS, EU Taxonomy).
• An affinity for IT solutions for ESG and integrated reporting, you understand how data, systems, and processes come together.
• The ability to translate complex sustainability challenges into concrete, actionable solutions.
• A pragmatic, results-driven advisory style, with the ability to switch between substantive and commercial thinking.
• Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English.
• Willingness to work at client sites across the Netherlands, and occasionally in Northwest Europe.

What we offer you

• An annual compensation package between €75,000 and €95,000, depending on experience. This includes base salary, holiday allowance, a mobility allowance, and variable compensation.
