Job summary

Norton Rose Fulbright in Amsterdam is seeking a Werkstudent within our Financial Services team to gain hands-on exposure to financial services regulation and corporate work. You will assist the lawyers, conduct research, draft memos and prepare presentations, while learning about the firm and its people.

We value initiative, proactivity and language skills in Dutch and English. The role offers opportunities to participate in social activities and to develop professional skills in a global law

Qualifications

• In the final phase of Bachelor's degree or pursuing a Master's (civil law focus).
• Interest in the commercial practice and financial supervisory law.
• Available for at least 2 days per week for 3+ months.
• Good command of both Dutch and English.
• Proactive, eager to learn, flexible and collaborative.

Responsibilities

• Support the attorneys in a broad sense and gain practical exposure.
• Research legal questions, draft memos, and prepare presentations.
• Learn about the office, colleagues, and client service culture.
• Participate in social activities such as lunches, networking, and events.

Word werkstudent binnen ons Financial Services team in Amsterdam en ontdek hoe financieel toezicht het verschil maakt in uiteenlopende juridische vraagstukken – van complexe corporate transacties tot uitvoerige vergunningaanvragen.

Team Ons Financial Services team adviseert een breed scala aan financiële instellingen: van fonds- en vermogensbeheerders tot brokers/dealers, handelsplatformen en cryptobedrijven. Wij begeleiden zowel Nederlandse als internationale cliënten bij vergunningstrajecten, meldingsprocedures en communicatie met toezichthouders zoals de AFM en DNB. Daarnaast zijn wij pioniers op het gebied van blockchain en crypto en ondersteunen we grote, mondiale cryptodienstverleners en andere deelnemers aan de financiële markten bij het navigeren door de regelgeving rondom de inzet van deze technologieën.

Functie Als werkstudent draai je écht mee in ons team. Omdat het team relatief klein is samengesteld, werken we nauw samen en zie je al snel veel van de praktijk voorbijkomen. Je ondersteunt de advocaten in de breedste zin van het woord krijgt de kans om juridische vraagstukken te onderzoeken, memo’s te schrijven en presentaties voor te bereiden. Het is ons uitgangspunt dat je niet alleen de inhoud van het vak leert kennen, maar ook ons kantoor en de mensen achter het werk. Zo ben je van harte welkom om aan te sluiten bij onze (sociale) activiteiten zoals jurisprudentielunches, borrels en sportactiviteiten.

Profiel In deze rol helpt het als je al enige kennis hebt van de praktijk, bijvoorbeeld omdat je een relevante stage- of werkervaring hebt op dit vakgebied of omdat je het vak financieel toezichtrecht volgt of hebt gevolgd.

Herken jij jezelf daarnaast in de volgende punten?

• Je zit in de laatste fase van je Bachelor of bent bezig met je Master (met civiel effect);
• Je hebt interesse in de commerciële praktijk en een aantoonbare affiniteit met het financieel toezichtrecht;
• Je bent minimaal 2 dagen per week beschikbaar voor een periode van ten minste 3 maanden;
• Je hebt een goede beheersing van zowel de Nederlandse als Engelse taal;
• Je bent proactief, leergierig, flexibel en houdt van een gezellige werksfeer.
