Job summary

JFV Groningen is offering a student trainee position in Financial Markets & Regulation. You will conduct legal research for matters we handle and share an office with a lawyer, enabling you to ask questions and accompany them to court hearings and client meetings.

You will learn on the job through regular contact with a partner and a senior associate, and with colleagues from other practice groups, while participating in our educational and social programmes.

Qualifications

• Third-year Bachelor or Master’s student with a strong academic record.
• Eager and excited to learn.
• Meticulous and well organised.
• Proactive and able to work independently.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.

STUDENT TRAINEE -FINANCIAL MARKETS & REGULATION

Your role as a student trainee

A student traineeship is the best way to get to know our firm and the practice, as you will get a proper view of what our lawyers do on a daily basis. As a student trainee, you will conduct legal research for the matters we work on. You will share an office with one of our lawyers, so you will be able to ask them anything - and accompany them to court hearings and client meetings. You will learn on the job, through regular contact with a partner and a senior associate on any given matter, as well as with colleagues from other practice groups. You will also be able to fully participate in all of our educational and social programmes, whether practice-specific or firmwide.

The practice

Our Financial Markets & Regulation team advises financial firms on complex matters driven or affected by the supervision and regulation of the financial services industry. We assist large national and international financial firms in complex M&A and capital market transactions, and advise on securities offering rules, the trading of financial instruments, market abuse issues, and financial market infrastructures. We also help financial firms with all aspects of the licensing, governance and structuring of their business operations. We assist in creating a framework for their financial services and products, and on regulatory capital issues and recovery and resolution.
