Job summary

Western Digital in Eindhoven zoekt een student voor een parttime stage van 6 maanden. Je voert optische karakterisatie uit op VCSEL- en fotodiode-apparaten, meet emission patronen en analyseert spectra met beam profilers en spectrometers. 8–16 uur per week, HBO/WO-niveau en basiskennis van optica vereist.

Qualifications

• Ongoing Bachelor- of Master-opleiding in fysica, elektrotechniek, fotonica of gelijkwaardig.
• Basisbegrip van optica en laserprincipes; data-analyse met Excel, MATLAB of Python.
• Veilig, precies werken met optische apparaten volgens de veiligheidsnormen.
• Verantwoordelijk, gestructureerd, nauwkeurig en consciëntieus in werkwijze.
• Zeer goede schriftelijke en mondelinge Engelsvaardigheden.
• 8–16 uur per week / 6 maanden.
• Werken in een dynamisch, high-tech bedrijf.

Responsibilities

• Voer optische karakterisatie uit op VCSEL- en fotodiode-apparaten.
• Meet en documenteer nabij- en verre-veld stralingspatronen met beam profilers.
• Verzamel en analyseer spectra met optische spectrometers.
• Voer gestandaardiseerde testroutines uit voor laser sensor module prestaties.
• Ondersteun datarelatie tussen metingen en optische modellen.
• Onderhoud meetlogs en creëer visualisatie-rapporten.

Job Description

• Perform optical characterization measurements on VCSEL and photodiode devices
• Measure and document near-field and far-field emission patterns using beam profilers
• Collect and analyze spectral data using optical spectrum analyzers
• Execute standardized test procedures for laser sensor module performance
• Support data correlation between measurements and existing optical models
• Maintain measurement logs and create visualization reports

Qualifications

• Ongoing Bachelor's or Master's degree in physics, electrical engineering, photonics or a comparable technical course of study
• Basic understanding of optics and laser principles as well as data analysis skills with Excel, MATLAB or Python
• Safe, precise work with optical devices in compliance with applicable safety standards
• Responsible, structured, detail-oriented and conscientious way of working
• Very good written and spoken English skills
• 8 - 16 hours per week / 6 months
• Working in a dynamic, young, high-tech company
