Job description

Dutch National Opera & Ballet is looking for a:

Time commitment: 5 meetings per year, plus attending as many premieres and events as possible.

About us

Dutch National Opera & Ballet is one of the largest cultural organizations in the Netherlands, located in the heart of Amsterdam. With more than 650 colleagues from over 30 nationalities, we work together every day to enrich as many lives as possible with the wonder, beauty, and meaning of opera and ballet. Every detail matters, which is why we value craftsmanship in every part of our organization. Would you like to contribute your experience and enthusiasm to this mission?

About the role

The Young Patrons Circle (YPC) of Dutch National Opera & Ballet is a fundraising community of opera and ballet lovers under 40. Together, we raise essential funds to support new creations and talent development, while building a strong network of engaged young donors.

As a member of the Steering Committee, your primary responsibility is fundraising and recruitment: bringing in new Young Patrons (with a focus on fellows and benefactors) and helping to increase contributions from existing members. In addition, you play an important role in spreading the mission of YPC and strengthening our community from within, ensuring members feel connected and inspired. You are both a fundraiser and an ambassador, representing YPC externally and contributing to a vibrant and sustainable network.

The term runs for two years, with the possibility of extending for another two years in consultation with Dutch National Opera & Ballet.

Who we are looking for

  • You are eager to share the mission of YPC, committed to attract new members, and build a strong community.
  • You are motivated to dedicate your knowledge, network, and time for a minimum of two years to support YPC’s fundraising goals.
  • You enjoy being visible as one of the faces of the YPC and representing us at events.
  • You are a part of the Young Patrons Circle yourself.

What we offer

  • The opportunity to make a direct impact on the fundraising success of Dutch National Opera & Ballet through the YPC.
  • A strong and inspiring network of like-minded peers passionate about opera and ballet.
  • The chance to further develop your leadership, strategic, and fundraising skills in a cultural context.
  • One complimentary ticket to première performances (excluding the International Young Patrons Gala) for personal use, so you can attend as an ambassador.
