Airwallex is hiring a Staff Solutions Engineer for Embedded Finance in Amsterdam. You will own technical pre-sales and implementation for complex enterprise engagements, turning business requirements into actionable designs.

You’ll orchestrate cross-functional teams and drive API integrations and third-party connectors, ensuring on-time delivery and high-quality outcomes. You will work with sales and product teams across EMEA, providing technical trust from pre-sale through go-live.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of technical pre-sales experience in complex implementations.
• 8+ years of client-facing delivery or professional services in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted technical advisor for high-value implementations and expansions, shaping integration approaches and overall design.
• Partner with implementation and account teams to translate customer requirements into scalable architectures.
• Collaborate with sales on technical discovery to understand systems, data flows, and workflows and propose an integration blueprint.
• Work hands-on with customers to troubleshoot integration hurdles and guide complex configuration decisions (designing robust implementations).
• Create and maintain internal docs, playbooks, and lightweight tooling to support integration-heavy use cases at scale.
• Channel customer feedback into Product and Engineering to influence roadmap and feature prioritisation.

About the team The Merchant Services team partners with our clients to realise their full potential through the adoption of Airwallex products that drive their growth and success. We influence revenue growth across our entire product portfolio and collaborate with sales, strategy, product, and engineering teams to provide the best experience for our most valued customers. Our team works alongside commercial teams throughout the pre-sales, solution design, and API integration stages, serving as the single technical point of contact and trusted advisor for our clients. What you’ll do As a Staff Solutions Engineer you will own the technical pre-sales and implementation of AirWallex solutions for complex client engagements that bring our global payments and financial products to life for enterprise partners, shopping carts, and payment gateways. You will turn agreed business requirements into solution designs and actionable plans, orchestrating cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to deliver on time, on scope, and to a high quality bar. You’ll provide technical trust, ensuring that every phase from pre-sales through go-live and early optimisation runs smoothly. This role is based in Amsterdam (3 days in office), with implementation coverage across EMEA.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and internal teams on high-value implementations and expansions, shaping integration approaches, system configuration, and overall solution design.
• Partner with implementation and account management teams to translate customer requirements into scalable architectures.
• Work with sales teams on technical discovery to understand customer systems, data flows, and workflows, and recommend a best-fit integration blueprint, including when and how to leverage APIs and third-party connectors.
• Work hands-on with customers to troubleshoot integration hurdles and guide them through complex configuration decisions, focusing on designing robust, maintainable implementations rather than writing code directly.
• Create and maintain internal documentation, playbooks, and lightweight tooling that make it easier for the wider team to support integration-heavy use cases at scale.
• Channel customer pain points and integration feedback into Product and Engineering, influencing the roadmap and prioritisation of features that materially improve implementation outcomes.

Who you are

We’re looking for people who meet the minimum requirements for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. Business, Finance, Engineering, Information Systems) or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience in technical pre-sales , managing complex, multi‑stakeholder technology or financial services implementations.
• 8+ years of client‑facing delivery or professional services experience in a high‑paced environment (e.g. SaaS, fintech, consulting, systems integration, enterprise implementation).
• Proven track record of successfully delivering cross‑functional projects with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and job functions, including C‑level executives, technical teams, and operations.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to lead steering meetings, write clear status updates, and influence decisions without direct authority.

Preferred qualifications

• Hands‑on experience working on API‑based payments integrations/products.
• Experience managing strategic or enterprise engagements as part of a broader account team, including navigating commercial sensitivities while protecting technical quality and scope.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑moving, ambiguous environment, balancing structured methodologies with pragmatic decision‑making to keep complex projects moving forward.
