Job summary

Adyen is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Merchant Fraud Prevention group in Amsterdam. You will serve as the core architect and strategic engineering partner for fraud detection and mitigation ecosystems.

• Technical leader with architectural judgment and influential communication.
• Extensive experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems for reliability and performance.
• Experience architecting ML infrastructure including feature stores and real-time inference.
• Operational mindset partnering with Fraud Ops/Compliance to translate signals into scalable solutions.
• Proactive relationship-builder across SWE, MLE, Product, Operations and Compliance.
• Nice to have: production-grade interfaces for LLM-based workflows and secure data handling.

Responsibilities

• Own multi-year technical north star for the group and define architecture across teams.
• Lead with the Director of Engineering to align investments with fraud prevention goals.
• Shape the strategic roadmap with product leadership.
• Establish consistent patterns and quality bars across fraud-focused teams.
• Mentor senior engineers and grow engineering excellence and psychological safety.
• Partner with Data Science/ML Engineering to support fast model deployment and real-time inference.
• Collaborate with Fraud Ops to translate patterns into platform requirements.
