Job Purpose

A Staff Software Engineer is responsible for technical leadership, strategic design, and high-level problem-solving, including leading projects, mentoring junior developers, and setting architectural direction for multiple teams or large systems. Key responsibilities include writing code, performing code reviews, and taking ownership of a project's full lifecycle, from design and implementation to deployment and maintenance. This role requires a strong technical background and the ability to influence technical strategy and drive engineering excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical leadership and strategy: Owning the technical strategy for a product area, defining architecture, and contributing to long-term objectives.
• Mentorship and guidance: Leading and mentoring other engineers, performing code reviews, and ensuring code quality and best practices are followed.
• Project ownership: Taking responsibility for the end-to-end lifecycle of complex projects, including design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Hands-on development: Writing code, conducting unit tests, and staying actively involved in the technical details of development.
• Collaboration: Working with cross-functional teams, product owners, and other stakeholders to deliver features and solve problems.
• Problem-solving: Tackling ambiguous and complex technical problems, analyzing user requirements, and debugging issues.
• Process improvement: Driving engineering excellence by establishing standards, adopting new practices like CI/CD, and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Innovation: Staying current with emerging technologies and evaluating how they can be used to improve products and processes.

Experience Required

• Advanced Developer with 8+ years of career experience, with Bachelor’s degree. 6+ years’ experience with Master’s degree.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing and deploying applied algorithms for real-world computer vision, machine learning, robotics, autonomous systems, or signal processing applications.
• Strong understanding of algorithm optimization techniques, including computational efficiency, memory management, and real-time performance considerations.
• Experience accelerating algorithms on embedded and heterogeneous computing platforms, including CPUs, GPUs, DSPs, FPGAs, NPUs, or dedicated AI accelerators.
• Proven ability to profile, benchmark, and optimize software implementations to meet performance, latency, and power consumption targets.
• Familiarity with parallel programming, vectorization, and hardware-specific optimization techniques.
• Experience translating algorithm concepts into efficient production-quality implementations for resource-constrained embedded systems.
• Knowledge of hardware-software co-design principles and the tradeoffs between algorithm accuracy, computational complexity, and system performance.
